Chad is an award winning coach. “Calgary’s Top Fitness Instructor in CrossFit and OCR (Obstacle Course Racing)”. Regarded as one of the top coaches in the sport of obstacle course racing he’s worked with some of the best athletes in the world and Canada.
OCRLabs operates out of TREC where the best OCR athletes in the province come to train with him and his team. Chad uses a unique approach to helping all endurance athletes improve their performance through a hybrid of strength and energy systems development.
Chad jokes that he’s in the ‘engine repair’ business. Dosing endurance athletes with specific strength work and task targeted functional fitness he’s helped them make dramatic improvements in performance.
OCRLabs is a fun and welcoming environment for athletes of all skill levels and the athletes of OCRLabs often refer to each other as family.

I’ve been a coach for over a decade. I began my career working with athletes at every level, amateur to professional at SAIT. I’ve run postpartum bootcamps helping new moms regain their pre-baby physicality. I worked downtown for a time running corporate bootcamps encouraging the corporate elite to move more and sit less. And I’ve spent the majority of my career working as a personal trainer specializing in movement quality and energy systems development. Gaining experience in many different facets has helped me develop a diverse skill set; in turn allowing me to better assess and coach my clients toward their personal goals.
I believe that exercise is preventative medicine. I believe being a coach is allied healthcare. I believe my job is to teach people the capabilities and possibilities of their physical selves with the aim to ensure not just a long, disease-free life but an independent and functional one.
Whether you are 25 or 65 the long game is the end game. Be a better you in 10 years than you are today. I want to help people become the best versions of themselves; whether that’s competing at the world level in a sport, attempting their first 5km obstacle course race or being independent until the age of 105.
